For Christmas this past year, my wife got me 3 months of guitar lessons for the guitar she got me a few years back. It had sat in the closet for a while now. I initially resisted doing this. But she knows me better than I know myself. I actually ended up taking lessons for 6 months. Thanks Tina! And thanks Randy for putting up with me. I now know the basic chords and actually enjoy playing. Though I must admit, I'm not too good at it. I even recently sold my old banjo (which I had quit playing) and took that money, plus some Christmas money I saved, and bought myself and electric guitar (Epiphone Goth with Line 6 spider amp). I'll never be a rock star...but its sure fun trying. I know the guitar works, one of my son's friends really rocked it out for me. See here on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYdFlb4Kr64). Makes me think about life. Sometimes we're too scared, tired or ornery to try something new. But when we do, we sometimes love it. My wonderful wife always pushes us to do or try something new. I usually like everything she picks for us/me. Sometimes she even tries something I suggest and she likes it. (e.g. Sushi) Some things I've tried over the years and enjoyed:
Golf
Guitar
Para-sailing
Teaching Sunday School
Fishing with my high school buddies. (see the hurricane we endured...what fun that was!!!)
Try something new today, maybe you'll love it.
