Well, I am proud to say that both Tina and I finished reading the entire bible last week! We used a 12 mos plan published by ATS and provided by our church. And it only took us 13 mos to do it! Yeah, I know... we went over a bit. In my defense, we had a lot of "stuff" happen this year. I can't say I remember it all. Even when I look back, much of it still seems unread. And I was amazed at how much of the bible I had really never read or seen before. I had always thought I had either read, heard sermons or lessons on the majority of the bible. And while there are lots of notes and underlines in my bible...I wasn't even close to right on that one.
I'm going to try something different this year. My pastor is doing a slow read over the next 3 years and making notes and comments. I asked to follow along so I could send him questions to ponder about his current reading. I had lots of questions last time, but for fear of falling behind...I didn't stop to ask them. I also have some training books I need to finish on top of Sunday School. But I may go back to what I was doing before. It kept me focused. And it kept God's word in front of me and in my heart daily. And that is the only way we got through this past year. I encourage you to find a plan that works for you. And don't let time waste. God has a word for you today, you just have to go read it.
